macdaddysSaw news of this restaurant via a tweet this morning: MacDaddy’s Macaroni and Cheese Bar in Georgetown, Conn. is putting a seriously gourmet twist on the classic comfort food. Have I mentioned yet that baked macaroni and cheese makes me weak in the knees?

You can get your baked mac with anything from all-beef hot dogs, pulled pork, chicken, mushrooms and marsala wine; goat cheese, sun-dried tomato and shrimp. But if I had to choose just one, I think I’d have to try the Mac Lobo with fresh lobster, coconut red curry, zucchini and asiago cheese.

Mac lovers living closer to Hartford County might remember J.B. Mack’s Macaroni and Cheese restaurant in Manchester’s Buckland Hills Mall (a place I always meant to visit, until it closed down.) I just checked out their website and saw this message:

“THE BAD NEWS: The Buckland Hills Mall location is NOW CLOSED. We apologize for any inconvenience. THE GOOD NEWS:We are in the process of moving our Manchester store to a new location. Keep checking the web site for more news and information.”

A list of ‘future locations’ includes Storrs, Fairfield, New Haven, New York, Boston, West Palm Beach and Hollywood, Fla.

I remember seeing photos of J.B. Mack’s mac and cheese served up in a toasted bread bowl. Could there be a more perfect combination of carbohydrates?

And the MacVodka sounds like a party too..And the MacPopeye with goat cheese!! Goat cheese makes the world go ’round, I’m sure of it.
