Get hungry, Connecticut. Travel Channel’s ‘Man v. Food’ taped an episode at local eateries back in October and the episode airs next Wednesday, Dec. 16, at 10 p.m.
The episode’s description says that Adam enjoyed “humungous hot dogs and steamed cheeseburgers’ and took on a 10-pound stuffed pizza challenge at Randy’s Wooster St. Pizza Shop.
October media reports placed Richman at Doogie’s in Newington (here’s a photo gallery of his appearance there) so that might account for the super-sized hot dogs. Not sure where he sampled the steamed cheeseburgers. One would think maybe Ted’s in Meriden, but is it disingenuous to call Meriden ‘Hartford’?
(ETA: A Travel Channel itinerary has Adam visiting Woody’s in Hartford, Doogie’s, Ted’s and Randy’s Wooster Street in Manchester.)
Randy’s Wooster St. Pizza Shop (which has three locations – Manchester, Southington and Storrs) describes its stuffed pizza challenge as a 22″ pizza stuffed with ‘a combination too big to list.’ If two people finish it in under an hour, the pizza is free. Winners get a $50 gift card, a ‘challenger’ hat and their picture on a wall of fame. A commercial promoting next week’s episode showed Richman working with another man to finish off the pizza behemoth.
Richman tackled a pizza challenge in Atlanta, taking on an 11-pound, 30″ meat-topped Carnivore pie with the help of a partner. They lost the challenge when his partner left the table and vomited outside the building.
What do you think? Can Adam take down Randy’s pizza challenge? Would you have rather seen him down several Doogie’s dogs?
